Overview

Antero Group led a project team to develop preliminary plans for the reconstruction of Red Arrow Highway, intersection safety improvements, and streetscape beautification elements through the downtown corridor. Union Pier is a lakeside community that draws several thousand summertime tourists and beachgoers annually. Located in Southwest Michigan’s Harbor Country region, Union Pier lies alongside Red Arrow Highway, a County-owned road that once served as the main thoroughfare through the region. Safety has become a concern at the main intersection where Red Arrow Highway and Union
Pier Road intersect.

Outcomes

Antero Group provided the schematic and streetscape design concepts for roughly 1.3 miles along Red Arrow Highway.
Engaged over 200 community members, business owners, and partners in public workshops and survey administration.
Performed intersection traffic analysis and recommendations to optimize safety improvements at the primary intersection.
Conducted an economic impact analysis to quantify the financial benefit of safety and streetscape improvements to the area.
