Texoma Regional Solid Waste Management Plan

Overview

Texoma Council of Governments (TCOG) engaged Antero Group to develop the 2022-2042 Texoma Regional Solid Waste Management Plan as required by the Texas Administrative Code. The plan outlines the past 40 years of progress made in Cooke, Fannin, and Grayson counties in Northeast Texas as it relates to solid waste management policies and practices. Further, the plan sets forth a series of goals and objectives to continuously implement more environmentally preferred methodologies and ensure the Texoma region operates sustainably, safely, and efficiently.

Outcomes

The final plan ensures adequate levels of transportation and disposal capabilities throughout the tri-county region.
Local programs were proposed in the interest of source reduction, waste minimization, reuse, recycling, and composting in order to conserve disposal capacity and resources.
A recycling rate goal was determined for the first time in the interest of obtaining more accurate recycling data.
The plan outlines the most ambitious reduction goals in the region’s history.
